RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – While North Carolina’s COVID-19 state of emergency will end next month, health experts said the pandemic is not over and projected another rise in cases and hospitalizations as the Omicron subvariant BA.5 has become dominant in the United States.

We’re now more than 130 days into the war in Ukraine, caused by Russia’s invasion. And as experts predicted early in the crisis, it’s fueling a hunger problem in some parts of the world. 

John Howell is joined by Dr. Sheldon H. Jacobson, Founder Professor in Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana. Dr. Jacobson speaks to why there have been so many flight delays and cancellations this Summer. It goes beyond weather: staffing, re-training pilots who haven’t flown in awhile, and limitations due to backup crews. They also discuss what we as passengers can do when experiencing delays.
